Richard K. Bratten has worked in the Executive Benefits and Bank Owned Life Insurance markets for over a decade. Since 1999 he has worked as a consulting principal and National Sales Consultant at two large national firms specializing in executive benefits and Bank Owned Life Insurance (BOLI).
Prior to his consulting role, Mr. Bratten worked in the insurance industry for more than a decade as an actuary. He concentrated on developing products for the corporate-owned life insurance (COLI) and bank-owned life insurance (BOLI) markets, including new products for the nonqualified deferred compensation markets.
Mr. Bratten's product development experience includes innovations in both general account and separate account designs in order to meet the unique needs of banks and other financial institutions. Mr. Bratten’s experience in managing the product design and daily operations of a $3 billion portfolio of BOLI & COLI at a major insurance company enables him to bring a unique perspective to his consulting role.
As an actuary, Mr. Bratten has designed, priced, and filed products with state insurance departments that were tailor made for the BOLI market. His background as an actuary also includes extensive experience with valuation, pricing, investment and asset/liability management.
Between his experience as an actuary and an investment professional, Mr. Bratten is uniquely positioned to educate institutions on the many decisions inherent in the Corporate Owned Life Insurance market.
Mr. Bratten has spoken to many industry groups on topics relating to nonqualified benefits and BOLI. He has also authored papers for various banking publications and associations. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Cincinnati. He also attained his MAAA (Member, American Academy of Actuaries) in 1996, his FSA (Fellow, Society of Actuaries) designation in 1997 and his CFA Charter (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation in 2001. He has passed his Series 6 and 63 qualifying exams with the NASD and is an insurance licensed representative.
Dan Neil is a native of Cypress, TX located just outside of Houston. He attended the University of Texas from 1992 to 1997. Dan was a 2 time All-American on the University of Texas Football team and 1996 team MVP. Drafted by the Denver Broncos in 1997 in the 3rd round and went on to play 8 seasons with the Broncos. A two-time Super Bowl champion with the Denver Broncos who started in 104 games at right guard.
After retiring from professional football Dan earned his general lines insurance license from Texas and started a second career in financial planning. Dan began his career working with business owners at Wortham in Austin, TX. In 2013, Dan accepted a position with Treloar & Heisel working with dental specialists and personal financial planning. He worked with Ohio National as a Regional Sales Director prior to accepting a position with BFS Group out of their Austin, TX region.
Dan has three children; Alex who attends Westlake High School and is a cheerleader, David who attends Westlake High School and is a member of the football team and Dani who attends Hill Country Middle School and is a volleyball player. Dan and his family moved from Denver to Austin, TX in 2005 and lives in the Westlake area. He is a board member of the NFL Alumni that raises money for children’s charities in the Central Texas area.
